Aquarium Suggestions

I'm trying to use the last of my vouchers from Delta.

I'm looking for a good aquarium to go visit next week. I've been to the Georgia, Boston, Mystic, North Carolina and Shedd in Chicago. I was thinking Baltimore but I've haven't heard anything about it.

Any suggestions???

lol...can't take the time from work for that long of a flight. Been at the new job around 7-8 weeks and took 4 vacations so far. The next is Cancun at the end of the month :-). Just looking for an overnight trip. Baltimore looks pretty good...anybody been there?

I've been to Baltimore a few times. If you can get behind the scenes for frog breeding its good. Also excellent is the new (huge) exhibit on australian river wildlife. Don't recall if there is much in the way of reef stuff.

The best aquarium of all time is of course Monterey, and you should go there if you can. Atlantis in Riverhead on Long Island has a great reef tank that is definitely worth going to if you haven't been, although probably won't use a plane trip...

Linda,
When are you going to Cancun? I will be in Puerto Moroles (about 20 minutes from Cancun) from Aug. 27th - 31st. Plan to do any snorkeling or diving?

I did....I gave $800 worth of tickets away already. They had to be used by Sept. 2nd. (I did try to give them to toyota guy but he couldn't use them).

We go to Cancun from the 25th to the 2nd. Going snokeling and trying diving for the first time. Worked really hard on getting over my fear of the water...while in Florida a few weeks ago I spent more time in the water than Tom. My daughter will be shocked to see me in the ocean and pools this trip.

Where are you staying Ross? We are at the Sunset Lagoon www.sunsetlagoon.com

Monterey would be the choice, definately. Baltimore should be seen at some point. You could also give Jorge a call and see his seahorse operation. Through CMAS and WAMAS you could hook up with folks and bring back a cooler full of awesome frags.

how do I get in contact with Jorge?

If you tell me more about the frag hookup I will attempt to do it. I'm always up to a challange.

Just register with wamas.org and cdmas.org websites for their forums and post up a request. Geofloors lives near the aquarium (relatively speaking) and has real nice corals. Let him know that I mentioned your name to him. another person is David Oh, he goes by the screen name chideloh.
For Jorge, just write to him through the website dracomarine.org- you could pick up your seahorses while you are there :) OH- one thing I just thought about that might make that a huge problem if you fly- you can't take any liquids past security. You would have to pack them into checked luggage. I've never done that- always just hand carried things through.

I might of found a way to go to Monteray and on the way back a 5+ hour stop in Georgia. I'm traveling with a fishy friend....I'll see if she is up to the trip.

Thanks for the information Michael. I'm looking at going next week (Tues-Thursday).

Hey Linda,
That would be too funny to see you down there.

We are going to "El Dorado Resort, A Spa Resort". It seems to get some pretty great reviews and such. But just to get away is cool enough for me. You can see more pics and info here.

I have been thinking about diving my first time also. I have found a company that I heard some good things about. It is called Dive Puerto Moroles. Check em out.

Lata,
Ross
