Aquascape Advice..

Registered Reefer
Setting up an upgrade and decided to use all new rock. Tank is a 90 gallon 36x24x24 w/ center overflow.

I put together 2 different aquascapes and wanted any tips or which one you guys think will look better. It's going to be a SPS dominated mixed reef... So I will have some LPS like hammers and acans... Thanks!!

The first 2 pictures are of the first scape and the 2nd 2 are of the other.

I like the cave in the second setup, but it looks like you do not have a whole lot of sandbed space. If you get a chalice then you will need a shaded spot to put it, so try to get larger and/or more open areas that are shaded for these types of corals. That said, the more natural it looks, the better. I like to use smaller rocks to prop up larger ones in a way that keeps the smaller ones mostly hidden. When I can't do that, I make a rock pile with largest on the outside and as hallow as possible for fish to hide in.

I have a setup in my tank that I like where one of the longer and straighter rocks is at a 45 degree angle like it fell over on top of the other rocks. It makes the flat surfaces seem so much less artificial.

I have changed it since this picture, but it gives you an idea. I know the angled rock is a little hard to see.

Thanks for the input guys.

Maybe I can switch over the that shelf rock on the right island in the second scape and connect both together. That will bring more shaded area and open up the sandbed a lot more.

How does this look in comparison?

i like the last setup with the first being a very close second.
all look good IMO and would be happy with any of them in my tank.
what YOU like is really the only opinion that matters.

Correct me if I am wrong, but picture 1&2 are the SAME scape, 3&4 are the SAME scape , just different perspective on both.. funny that lots said they like 2 and 3. :-/

Thanks for all the input everyone.. I will try and recreate something similar to the last setup and take a final shot when it's sanded and wet!

You are correct.. 1 and 2 are the same and 3 and 4 are the same. A different angle changes the look of it a lot.

So I got the tank setup and in place... I tried to replicate my old aquascapes after I had to break it down and carry it to the tank and cannot get any close to what I had before for the life of me... After 2 hours this is what I came up with. Let me know what you guys think and thanks for all the input!
