Aquascape

Hi there, just a query. I know there's no right way to do it but is there a wrong way? In my 24g tank it is higher than it is wide so I have built a central mountain of live rock. This keeps it away from the glass. There are plenty of holes, gaps, hiding places. I just wondered if it was OK like this or would a tiered approach be better, however that coukd end up on the glass. Opinions please?

If you like the look it is fine. Personally I would try to open it up a little more in the middle making more and larger caves.

Did have it more open but then rock was against the glass. I don't mind it being against the back as its plastic. Was just very wary of it against the glass, made cleaning the glass a nightmare too. Might try to reorganise it a bit to open it up a bit. Thanks.

being a pile of rocks like that also makes getting sufficient flow deep in the pile tough..
Open it up so powerheads can easily move/remove detritus,etc... from inside the pile..

Basic things to follow..
Keep away from glass to make cleaning easier..
Keep open to allow flow through it..
Don't give a damn what someone else has to say about it.. Its your tank if you like it thats all thats important..

This is how things look now, probably stay this way, most important thing, my Mrs prefers it like this. 😁

Yes, as long as the Mrs. is happy that's all that matters! LOL
IMO your 1st aquascape looked better and more thought out, this one looks like it's just thrown around w/o any design.

check out this informative thread about aquascaping: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2217633

Also Matt's Reef Tank about aquascaping on YouTube, has amazing aquascape:

Your 1st design looked like something I'd see in the ocean. Think about what type of aquascape you'd be happy to see daily and take your time and move the rocks around. If you watch Matt's Reef tank video, he mentions how long it takes him to aquascape as he moves the rocks around all over.
