I came across another thread were someone was aquascaping with ceramic inserts instead of live rock. I went to my LFS and found a piece of synthetic elk horn that I thought would be very cool as the main structure. My tank is a 93 cube, 28.5” X 28.5” inside dimensions minus the corner overflow. The piece is 14" H and about 20" X 20". I've attached an image of the piece I found. I thought that it would keep things open and give a nice bonsai style aquascape. I should mention that I plan on making it an SPS tank. I would glue LE SPS frags to different areas of the synthetic coral.
I know that I'll have to put something in the tank for biologicial filtration. I was thinking about putting some live rock around the painted base or rubble in the sump. I know that a few manufactures are using Matrix chambers to add bio as well. I wanted to get some input before pulling the trigger.
