I went to Aquatic Tech this afternoon after about three years. He is doing a great job straightening things up there. Great service, and the owner, he was in a great mood willing to help and even wished me a Merry Christmas. This is a vast improvment from the old Aquatic Tech. keep it up doing great!!! The prices are still a little high but so is gas and a cup of coffee. Those who doubt me should check him out.

I agree, I was there the other day with Scott and was totally floored. I even let him order a fish. I am definitely a believer in ChristmaHannuKwanzika miracles :-D

And the sea beast was terrifying and spectacular.

I'm new to the hobby and I'm a little confused: is this place a full on store, or mostly just a catelog order biz with a small storefront? The website looks pretty old and only lists a # for catelog orders. I'm looking to get an ro or ro/di unit, and none of the LFS around here stock the ones I want. Aquatic has them listed on its old site, but its a bit of a drive for me, so I don't want to chew up time and gas if there's not going to be much there.

Aquatic Tech can also drop ship it to you, we had them do that with our top off a few years ago, If it's far I'd give them a call first

I bought mine from air water ice website. I've been using the typhoon III for over two years without any trouble. Great customer service, too. Good Luck.

There is more than one store in the Cleveland area. You could also hit Salty Critter while in the area.

Be careful what you buy when it comes to RO/DI. You get what you pay for.

The sea beast tank was sans three foot worm as far as I could tell. Really pretty red (fromia?) star though.

It lives inside the chunk of PVC in that tank. Ask someone to show it to you next time you go.

You may want to call for "in-store" prices before driving out there to make any purchases. The internet pricing you see is not the same as when you get there. It may be worth it to just order over the phone and let them send it to you if you factor in gas and the price difference you pay by going there to buy.

If you are looking for an RO/DI system there is another place that is sort of local and are very friendly and helpful. Buckeye Field Supply.

well ,,i think i am having a Aquatic Tech letdown (just when i was giving him a chance again),,,,,,,, my impeller for my skimmer broke ,,its a Berlin turbo that i got from him less that a year ago ,,,i called and he said he would check to see if he had one , if not he would crack open a new skimmer , take the impeller and just order a new one for the unit ,,,,,, im thinking AWESOME !!!!!!! ,,,hes doing a patron a favor and keeping his SEVERAL hundred dollar tank up and running (and i have got several things from his place over the last 12-16 months) ,,,,,now they go for 13.99 at 20 on-line places ,,,,,, he wants 29 bucks for it !!!!! i can see say 21.99 ,,you know make a few dollars , cover the shipping charge for a new one ,,,,,,,but twice the cost ??? think i might call Dr Fosters in the AM ,,,,,,13.99 plus 3 dollars shipping ,,,,, wait untill tues or wed ,,,,,, ill keep trying to give him my dollars ,,,,,but it has to be a fair deal for both ,,,,,,,,,,

I would think you could mesh mod a MaxiJet 1200 and blow away anything that Berlin could ever make. Use the skimmer body but turn it into a decent little skimmer. Most people give up on Berlin skimmers after they realize that they will never perform like a quality skimmer will. I bought one when I was just getting into the hobby and sold it for $25 after getting a decent skimmer to replace it.Seems like everyone makes the same mistake of either a Berlin or a SeaClone.

If I were you I would try to fit the maxi jet onto the venturi that is already there and if you want to get creative just put a few layers of gutter guard on the impeller with some fishing line or even do the fishing line mod where yuou just drill a bunch of 1/16" holes into the impeller and thread some fishing line through them as you go around the impeller. Then tie it off and if you are really worried about it coming loose you can add a drop of super glue where the line goes through the holes.

Just a suggestion. Hope it helps.

never really had any issues with it ,,,,, draws a ton of junk a day out of my tank ,,,,,,,the small foot print fits in my sump perfect ,,,,,,,, im sure theres way better out there ,,,,,, just sorta bummin it went out ,,its been 2 days with out my skimmer running ,,,,,and i have alot of corals and fish ,,,,,,,,, i need a new impeller for now ,,,and also look into a new type of skimmer ,,,, or do some of the mods to it ,,,,, that i have no clue about ,,,,

imho I would pay the $30 for the impeller, a quick fix for now, your skimmer is down and has been for a few days.....and you really can't wait 3 or more days for 1 mail order, unless you want to do some large water changes...... I can't say Greg is wrong for his price, he will have a skimmer he can't sell and have to wait for the part to come in and pay shipping for it also

30 bucks ???? ,,not a chance ,,there 13.99 allllllllllllllllllllll day long ,,,,,, plus 3 dollar shipping ,,,could pay (and will ) pay for 2 day shipping ,,,total will be under 20 bucks ,,,was just seeing if he had any out there ,,,,, and he has quite a few out there ,,new in box ,,,wont sell out anytime soon ,,,,,,,,,,,,, just lookin for a local store to help out , instead of using the mega on-line sellers ,,,that put our local stores belly up !!!

one hand shakes the other in retail ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
