My Fualt, Just trying to get info on a $1000 purchase.....thanks for your help :| I still have not made up my mind on which controller to buy yet, now I am hearing these bad reviews on the DC's, so now I am revisting the AQT, I thought thats what these types of threads are for. Helping the ppl that dont have exp. Guess not...

UJbird I think you caught Armando without his morning cup of coffee :) We should give him a USB cable spanking ;) but he might like that

A person wanting info before purchasing is part of what this thread is about. I had just made a nice full page reply to some of the previous posts when I got a locked message and my whole post was deleted :( Anyway to sum it up I was saying that I think negative posts like the previous where designed to keep people like yourself from choosing the AQT but I would point out to you that given the fact that the AQT already has more Probes, more power plugs and a much better platform for expandability than the AC3 and all of this for a product that has been around for about 6 months, it bodes well for all us AQT owners that the future is very bright.

For Neptune diehards I would point out that you should be rejoicing at the AQT. It is only because of competition that you get innovation, if left alone why would Neptune ever want to upgrade their controllers? The AQT has moved the hardware Bar up a few notches and I am sure that Neptune will also come out with a USB based controller with greater expandability and more probes. So we all benefit by the competition that is occurring and should try to keep things civil and factual

Robby, Thanks for the comparision. I am truly overwhelmed in the difference in the 2. How you describe the AQT is why I first was was leaning the AQT way, expandable, USB and 20ish probes... But the webserver is very important to me. Do you think that AQT's will be out soon and what price range do you think they will be in? Will I have to have the Serial interface also. or will the ethernet interface replace that. Thanks for the help.

MoneyPit I am Calm Now! where is that little ba$trd I wanna tear him limb from limb Ahh oh yeah calm again :)

lol not very cheerful today, I need a salt-bucket-size coffee :D

NP Armando, I didnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t think I was way off base with the nature of the posts :) Now go get that coffee :D

The DC 4/8 issues are def turning me away I want reliability most of all.

I just want a product that does what I want and reliably and does not break the bank.\

{EDIT} Another thing I like about the AQT is I see that they are molding it and adding to the controllers to fit our needs. I really really want a webserver!! I got a free port on my linksys screaming for something to be pluged into it.

The Ethernet Interface should be out in May 2006 and may even be sooner, I heard that the AQT people had no idea that Westerners would be so hot for this item so they where caught unprepared. From what I was told the SMS option was what they expected people to want since most Europeans have cell phones but most do not work at offices with Internet access.
The price for it, I have no idea but I would assume between $150 - $200.
If it will replace the serial? I am pretty sure that will be the case since I see no reason to use serial hookup when the PC is already ethernet linked.

Yeah I know what you mean, my mood is actualy starting to mimic my Tanks status  It's driving my wife nutts!
If the Tank is looking good I am a happy man all night, If I come home and find problems my mood sinks and I take it out on everyone. I have got to stop doing that.

Been experimenting with this Ph probe issue and here is what I have found so far.

I calibrate it for 30 Minutes (Yes 30) in Ph 10 solution then washed it off with DI fresh water and then did the second part with Ph 7 for another 30 minutes. I then repeat the whole thing again.

The whole process takes 2 hours but I ended up with a reading of 7.94 on my tank. I am going to get some fresh seawater on the way home and take a reading to see if it is truly correct but I have a gut feeling that it is now reading accurately.

BTW I found that using the standard 5 minute soak did not work, even after 20 minutes the probe would make a sudden .2 drop, it was only after 30 minutes that it was totally stable.

The second calibration showed the 10.0 Ph as 9.93 and the 7.0 as 6.95 after doing the second calibration I rinsed the probe and dried it then checked again in 7.0 solution and finally got a stable 7.0 reading.

I really dont have alot of info to provide to technical talks about the aquatronica but i have gotten to see it in person on a few diffrent tanks

living close to the supplier and belonging to the same reef club helps, and all i can say is wow i really want one of these things if u ahve the available money this thing is hands down one of the best TOOLS i have seen

jsut wanted to share my .02 cents on how great of a product it is

Hey Armando-

How are you controlling your light mover with the AQT? Just a timer with a delay, or what?

I'm not sure I want my AQT to control my light movers as I like the continual variation, but thought it might be fun to play with.

I'm using 4 SLS ROIII pendants suspended on a pulley system between two 3 ft Light Rail (with the 6 rpm motor and delays already built into the control mechanism).

Thanks for the info robby,
What are the issues around the probes, they are not unpack 2 pt calibrate and leave alone? what are the off?

this is the timer i setup for the light mover. times are temporary until I install the second pendant. the second entry "rewinds" it.

Ive got a good friend considering the Aquatronica that cant get any true info.
How about some of you Aquatronica owners posting some more technical info. What are you guys doing with this thing besides monitoring a few tank params and timing your lights? What could you make it do, as far as redundancy and protection goes?

Thanks
Don

I think you can find the answer to all of your questions and then some in the previous 40 pages. I use it to control my Calicium reator (PH levels), Ozone (redox), Main return pump, water changes, Metal Halides, and soon my salinity levels.
