I found this guy trotting around my house in my sister's bedroom the other day.... so I swooped him up and decided to snap some photos of him in a small aquarium that I turned into a scene box! He was pretty cooperative. It think its a California tarantula.

Very nice. I like how sharp all your pictures are.

I post on Arachnoboards from time to time when I need to identify a creepy crawler, you might give it a try there if you want a 100% positive ID.

awesome! I'll post there. I'm really curious to know what this critter really is. its about 1.5" long

Nice pics. I would avoid center composition more. I like #2 and where the focal plane is in the last one.

Spiders are neat-o.

Sorry to be a wuss... but you have these guys just walking around where you live???? I'd totally faint if I saw one!

Great photos tho!

Awesome find, and awesome pics!!

I remember when I lived in the LA area as a kid, I saw a tarantula strolling down the sidewalk like it was a human... lol

I think someone helped me ID this as a male false tarantula. Females are seldom seen, lurking in burrows. Males, on the other hand venture out during the breeding season looking for mates (i guess it's the breeding season?)
