aragonite (playsand) testing?

just bought some colorscape playsand from meijer in indianapolis.I remember someone saying it could be tested for reef compatibility with vinegar, but I dont remember what results to look for. Does anyone remember or know?

If I remember right put some vinegar on it and see if it fizzes,aragonite will fizz silicate won't.

You can use it even if it is Silica. You just won't get any buffering from it. (Aragonite doesn't buffer to the degree that most people say anyway).

From what I've read, argonite provides basically zero buffering as the ph of the water never reaches low enough to disolve it. And if your ph does get that low you have serious problems.
