Are 4 Tunze 6100's with a 7095 Multi-Controller Too Much?

Hello everyone, I am about to purchase four Tunze 6100'ss with a Tunze 7095 Multi-Controller for my 150 gallon Reef Ready Aquarium. Due you think this is too much flow for a soon to be SPS Reef? Should I just purchase two 6100's or two 6101's to use with the Multi-Controller for a better outcome. The last thing I want are fish hitting the glass and sand being whipped up. Thank you for your help.

Hello Jason, 4 Tunze 6101 will be a bit strong but if your tank is SPS dominate, it will be perfect. Your sand bed may get disturb a little but it all depend on how you place the pump. I have seen people with 120g and 4 stream 6101 and wavebox without any problem.

Can I throttle the speed of the individual controllers using the Tunze 7095 Multi-Controller?

Yes, you can. The Tunze 6101 come with 2 fuzes a 24v and 12v. The 12v will turn the pump into Tunze 6000. Or you can dial the pump down if necessary.

Can I not control the speed on the fly using the 7095 Multi-Controller without replacing fuses?

Yes, you can reduce the flow using either the controller or the built in adjuster screw on the driver (its recessed, white and has the shape of an arrow as the screwdriver slot). I dont know if the 6101s have these as well however, I haven't used one yet.

I had the same setup on my mixed reef and it was too much IMO for LPS and a sandbed. I had to dial everything down to less than 50% and I still got some sandstorms. But for an SPS only tank, especially with bare-bottom, it should work great for you.

Meisen, Thank you for the answer. All controllable stream has a little white knob to adjust the speed. The white knob located on that little black box where you connect your AC adapter and the connector for 7095. You can also adjust the speed on the 7095 controller as well...
