I found what I think are flat worms in one of the containers I got from the swap today? Will the melafix dip kill them or should extra precautions be taken?
Ill toss it. It came off of the "fuzzy green" acro. Bummer I liked that one. I don't know who's it was.
The worms are the little brown ones. http://www.chucksaddiction.com/hitchworms.html
They look like the ones in the very last set of pictures. The one on the top right.
I think that one is the planaria but still not worth taking a chance. That one if Im correct is treatable even in tank with flatworm exit but its still a big hassle. Better to dump it.
Dipped everything I got which included a fuzzy green, one of my favs as well and fortunately I got nothing but copepods. Although I've been keeping extra close watch now.
I found another one in an unmarked frag. Same type of container. These guys are tiny. I could only tell what it was using a 30X magnifier and because it was swimming differently than any pod I've seen.
Frag swap is the best place to get "bugs" that is why we always dip dip and dip some more. Inspect the corals carefully and remove anything that looks questionable and like Grant said, when in doubt, throw it out.
Red planria are fast moving and generally harmless.
