Are basslets agressive???

How do basslets (Harlequin, lantern, tobacco) interact with other smaller reef fish such as blennies, gobies, chromis, ect....?

They will usually get along with other small reef fish, but shy away from having multiple basslets as they aren't too fond of conspecifics.

I had a Royal Gramma (Basslet) once that while wasn't the aggressor, wouldn't take crap from anyone. He would back down tangs & angels by opening his mouth as wide as he could. My latest one is a lot more timid.

I wouldn't say the three you have are aggressive to other fish (same or similar species will entail aggression, however), but small gobies and blennies that fit in the mouths are potential meals for the basslets as they grow. The general rule of thumb with most species of fish is that if it fits in its mouth, it could be eaten. Scorpionfish, lionfish, etc. are an exception as their mouths can open wider than what it appears at first glance.
