Are blastos hardy?

I have acan lords and i would have to say they are the most hardy corals I own, I even find them to be more hardy than my zoos and shrooms. So my question is are blastos in general considered a hardy coral, let me know your experience?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

No and Yes. Wellsi require more care, cleaner system, etc and don't frag nearly as well as Acans. On the other hand IME Merletti's are just as burly as Acans

Wellsi are also very difficult to acclamate some times. You have to keep them in the shade for a little while and feed them. I have also had one colony just up and die on me once.

IME,Blastomussa wellsi and B.merletti are very hardy.Obviously, with the growth form of B.wellsi, fragging isn't as easy as B.merletti.I agree totally, low light, acclimation, and feeding will keep these corals thriving in a reeftank.B.wellsi is reported to be a slow grower,I only have experience with the colony i bought 1.5yrs ago.It grew form 9 polyps to 24 last time i counted(last month). Its definately not what i'd call a fast grower but nearly tripling in size in 1.5yrs isn't bad IMO.

My merlettis have been through it all (fragging, stung, dropped, eaten, etc..) and still keep going strong. My wellsis do great for about a month or two and then just melt away.

I have two small colonies of merletti's (supposed to be the easier of the two). They aren't doing as good as I would like. I have a colony of wellsi's (the ones everyone has trouble with) that are doing great. They have been in the tank for about 6 months.

I had all of these guys together and I think there was some chemical warfare going on. I separated them and they are all doing much better. The merletti's aren't in the best of shape yet but they are better than they were.

I've had great luck with my wellsi's, had them about 14 months, and have grown from 5 polyps to about 18. I never feed them, never.

Just got a colony of merletti's and they are my first so only time will tell how they do.
