Are Cowfish reef Safe?

I've never kept any of these, but from what I have read over the years they will nibble at corals, and therefore not reef safe. But like I said, I have no personal experience with this fish.

I have had my cowfish for a couple of months now, and I swear he is the guardian of what corals I do have. He goes from one to the next and just hovers over each one for about 15-20 min and then goes to the next one. It really is funny to watch. Maybe he is just trying to decide which one he wants to eat. But he has never touched any of mine. And I am about to stock up on some acros when my lights get in. I would spend the money on these corals if I thought differently. Just my .02

aren't cowfish a type of boxfish? I think that the names are pretty interchangeable. I would suspect they are a no or keep an eye on it type of reef fish. I wouldn't try it if you already have a stocked tank, just in case. But you never know, you may end up with one like Demonic that leaves them alone.

That's funny I had one that would do something similar. Had him in a man aggressive FOWLR with larger angels and scorps and we jokingly called him the "œsheriff". He would follow fish around and sort of check them out, even give them a poke sometimes. This was to fish 4-5x his size since he was a baby. Had a funny personality was always in everyone's business and very interactive.
