are crocea clams ok under pc?

Lots of people do, but it can be hit or miss, especially with crocea and maxima.

Just keep it 'in' the rockwork so that it feels secure, and place it in the upper third of your tank.

Good luck!

I didn't, but it probably has something to do with how much PC lighting and the depth of the tank! The problem is crocea clams like to be in the sand bed.

i thought crocea and maximas like to be in the rockwork as they like to burrow?

i remember reading somewhere that even if you keep in the sandbed, you should give it a solid rockwork underneath to securely attach..

hiep, i think if you have strong enough pc's and keep clam way at the top you could be okay, what lighting are you running? hope things are going well, thanks again for the frags and shrimp..

Sorry, brain fart. Crocea are rock burrowing clams. I would wait until you get the MH.

We have two happy crocea's in our 90G under PCs. We have 2x96 10k and 2x96 actinic, and the croceas have about 1-3" of water between them and the lights.

gsengel, that actually does sound quite adequate for those clams, especially if you've got nothing between the bulbs and the water. I want to remind everyone that the smaller size clams need algae for quite a while to grow right and a fair bit of light to farm their internal algae. It's tough to light nanos right for clams and acros, but I do like the look of the nanotuners stuff on their site. Not for everyone, but the mh nano scene is really taking off.
