Not the same but they behave exactly alike. You can actually place them next to each other without any warfare. Most micros are smaller then lords, but I have some that are larger then the lords when they are both fully open. The skeletons of micros are always smaller then lords.
I have seen some local LFS calling what appeared to be acans as large micros. Is there any way to specifically tell? I have been told that some micros can be fairly large polyped.
aside from being smaller then acans there isnt much difference. as a matter of fact for a long time they were considered lords. to the trained eye you can see a slight difference between the two. there is nothing distinct (beyond the size difference) but they do have a slightly different appearance. as with most corals the best way to be able to id a coral is to check out the skeleton or examine tons of pics and get a good feel for what your looking at.
