Are Penguin powerheads as bad as Rios?

I cant find any maxijets locally and need something tongiht. Petsmart sells Penguin powerheads- are they known for breaking and releasing oil into the water like Rios? Are they ok to use? Need some advice asap.

FYI the problems with the RIO's have been fixed.

Are you sure PetSmart doesn't have them? That is where I got all of mine.

I've run years with a couple of penguing powerheads-- no problems... I've never heard of them nuking a tank like the Rios.

I have penquin power heads in one of my spare tanks and been using the same two heads on and off for 9 years and they still work.Knock on wood

I've run the Penguin's. They are good if run constantly. But they are not good in wavemaker situations. They have a loud startup noise and are not meant for constant on/off switching. They will not last long that way. But run constantly, they are reliable and quiet. They also come with a nice mounting bracket IMO.
