Are peppermint shrimps shy?

I have had some very shy and some that would be out all the time and actually climb onto my hand while it was in the tank!

yeah, there is definately potential that they are still in there, and are just hiding, the more LR there is, the more likely. I know someone that has 5 peppermints in a 120, and only gets glimpses of them when he feeds, so watch closely when you feed your fish, they might come out to grab a piece of food. Otherwise, not much you can do.

Mine were shy at first, but after a few weeks they came out a lot more. Now, I can usually see them during the daytime.

Depends on what else is in the tank and how safe they feel; mine are ALWAYS out begging for food.

I have 2 tanks, bought 4 shrimp at the same time. One tank the 2 are out all the time, the other I never see them unless I turn on the lights at night.

I never see any fish bothering them.

throw some food in ur tank turn off the powerheads and see if they come out. mine sure arent shy especially during feeding time

:D Just give them time, especially if the ones you bought are small. Mine were really shy to begin with, the most I would ever see of them was a antenna sticking out of a hole in the rock occasionally. I NEVER saw them out in the open and then all of a sudden after a few months they decided the coast was clear and started coming out more and they had gotten HUGE!

Now mine still tend to hug the rock when they're out but if I stick my hand in the tank they almost immediately come out of whatever hole they're hiding in and crawl all over my hands and arms. :D

See!
