Are tests okay?

I actually went out today and bought most of the tests that I need. If i'm missing one please tell me. Nitrite=0, Nitrate=0, pH=8.5, Phosphate=0.25 or 0.5 (couldnt really tell) Ammonia= 0 or 0.1 (same thing couldn't tell) Are these levels okay for my tank? Again my tank has been up for about 2 months. My 1s fish jumped out. My 2nd fish would never come out and eat, ever since i introduced 2 new clowns it wouldnt come from hiding. ( it was a royal gramma) Now my 3rd fish died, I believe it was from ick. It seemed his tail was getting eaten away at. My 4th fish is still alive but has ich on it. Are these levels okay?

What type of test kits did you purchase?

The phosphate level seems high, as may the Ammonia if your detecting it.

That's a lot of fish to go thru for a two month old tank. Might I suggest you slow down a bit. If a fish truly does have Ich, you may want to wait a few months before adding another fish.

Phosphate is definitly high. Ammonia is basically nothing, I woul do a water change, the ammonia will come down.

How do I lower the phosphate level? And what level should the phosphate level normally be at?

The clowns I had were the oscellaris (i think thats how u spell it) and the one that jumped out was a pink skunk. Again How dO i lower the phospahte level? What levels should everything be at? and what tests should i do regularly and how often?

water changes and feeding less will reduce phos levels. theres also phosphate reactors on the market to remove it as well. normal level is 0. take a look at this site and bookmark it. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-05/rhf/index.php it list what all your levels should be.

theres other questions that should be asked about your water as well. like whats your temp., and salinity? have you added anything to your tank to cure the it? if not dont! set-up a hospital tank, and treat there.

I know it's sad but I don't have anything to read the temp yet. I need to go get one right away and see. Which are the best to buy? The salinity, thats the measure of the salt right? It's 1.023

temp is one of the most important things to check in an aquarium! so yes go out and get a Thermometer ASAP! something like this will work http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium...ters_coralife_digital_thermometer.asp?CartId= . the cheap glass ones work as well. if you have a PetsMart close they have some good prices on thermometers.
