Are these anchor worms?

Since you have tried trichlorfon(clout) with no luck I would also give diflubenzuron(dimilin) a shot. I’m not sure doing a double shot of prazi will help.

Also, have you tried formalin? I can’t rmember if you have.

I havent tried formalin yet. Ill add that to my list now too haha. I was originally going to get Dimilin off amazon, but it says for koi and goldfish so I dont know if its effective in Sw. Is this the right one? Ill order it right now if so.

And i only have a spare 90g free right now which id rather not use as a qt. I guess ill put the fish in a tupperware, completely clean out the 40g they're in and return them. Maybe ill do a formalin bath in the process.

Yep that’s the stuff. Humble recommends Dimilin for anchor worms and that’s all I could find too. Definitely try formalin. If you can avoid changing tanks that way. It would just take quite a few dips.

Cool i just ordered it. Heres a pic of the powder blue. Kind of hard to see but you can see the worm hanging down on his anal fin. Ill try the dimilin first and if no success(i hope to h*ll it works) ill do formalin baths and tank transfers.

Just rmember, anchor worms rarely kill their host. They are more of a nuisance. Are you able to get formalin locally?

Most likely. Theres a few stores around here that might have it. My hippo is still looking bad. The powder blue has what looks to be a different worm than the hippo. The ones on the hippo are nowhere near as long. He is pale, not as active and overall pretty bad looking.

Im tempted to do a couple formalin dips on the powder blue and other healthier ones, keep them in a 10g for a couple days(gonna be cramped in there) then do another formalin dip and add them to the display tank if they look good. Dont know if i could build up the nerve to add them to the main tank though knowing they could still have them.

Maybe ill dip the powder blue and pull off that worm and add him to the display after i watch him for a day since he looks so good and carry on from there. The other tangs are still iffy. (Hard to see the worms on the yellow ones). Dont want to get any of these in the 300 because that would be a nightmare.

Is there a specific brand of formalin i should get? The stores around here say they have medicine with formaldehyde in it, but not called formalin.

Looks like Formalin MS is what i want. No store around here has it in stock. Sadly the only good fish store around here closed down a few weeks back. Ill order some but at that point the Dimilin might be here.

There is Formalin MS, quick cure, kordon rid ich plus, and aquarium solutions ich x.

I read from humble that formalin can be used for anchor worms but I don't believe it's verified.

I ended up ordering formalin ms with priority shipping so it should be here tuesday or wednesday. My $2k bike got stolen today so ive been out trying to find it and didnt have time to go to the store. i figured the hippo can make it a few more days. No luck finding the bike sadly.

If the Formalin gets here before the dimilin, ill perform some dips and see if theres improvement. Otherwise ill dose the tank with dimilin

GPS tracker my friend. Let us know how you do with the formalin. Hopefully you start seeing some kind of improvement.
