Are these Armageddons? What do you think?

It's hard to say as the first pic is not clear. My Armageddons look similar to the Zoaid pic.

Here's my baby Armageddon polyp when I first got it.

They look like zoanthids to me. You people and your made-up marketing names.

Did someone say otherwise - that those were not Zoanthids? The names are used for reference so we know what each other is talking about. Names are part of the trade and this goes true for softies, LPS and SPS as well (just in case you have not figured that one out yet).

I agree that the silly names are for reference, but Atomic nuclear fire breathing zoo's are too much sometimes.

hansnfrans ones look more like Devil's Armor to me. I always thought they were palys, not zoas.

I think in some ways giving color morphs names helps us to work out what we're talking about online. Colorful corals will generally sell for more than brown ones, and that's just the way it is.

Hello.

On most other coral groups, there are few names. If anything, there are a couple species/color variations named after a hobbyist who introduced them. If not, then they are simply named in reference to their color combinations. For some reason, zoanthid whackos seem to think zoas are an exception and should have crazy names, that one can just as easily make up on the spot in order to increase the value of their polyps.

Point taken. But why does it matter to you what people name their polyps?

If I'm looking to purchase some PPE polyps, I'll announce that I'm looking for some PPEs to let everyone know what I'm talking about. I'd be foolish to rename PPEs into something like "Purple Barney's Hairy Green Hole Polyps" and expect people to understand.

If you like the polyp then adapt to the name whatever the crazy name is.
