about a month ago i found one of those that was about 20-25mm long. thing jumped out of a rock and freaked me the hell out (while i was breaking up some LR). i thought it was a mantis as well.lol. actually, at first i thought it was a pod, but then when i put it in to the tank it swam like a mantis...then a fish went to eat it, and the thing attacked the fish, and the fish swam away and hid.lol

it was named "Podzilla" (trademark of Nismo Driver)

Isopods are leeches of sorts and can be harmfull to fish. These are amphipods. The scavenge and provide a food source for fish and I think via their larvae for corals.

Isopods look like pillbugs and are an oval shape. That is def an Amphipod, they can get pretty big.. i have a few that big in a culture i have had for around six months.
