ARE THEY CRAZY! Coralife Aqualight LED 48" Light Fixture

I think you should get 2. 1 for your tank, one as a backup incase the first needs to be dusted or polished.

That sounds about right. The tasking has around 32 leds I think and they run $700-$750 you would need 3 radions to get 96 LEDs, so that would cost you 2100-2200.

That seems about right for a fixture with that number of LED's, programmable, auto temp/fan control, auto dimming (sunrise/sunset).

That's a decent price point for the non DIY'r.

wait for the second or third gen. on this one they have not worked out the kinks on it yet....they rushed it into production just to get something out there to compete with the hundreds of others already on the market..nothing like being a multi million dollar company thats behind the times...

I think it is a crazy entry price for a company that at least in my opinion doesn't have a great name brand.

That is priced at the top of the market when there is no expectation they will produce a premium product, imo.

Yeah it would cost you that much to get that much coverage in Radions, but at least they have a track record you are willing to pay a little more for.

I agree with anbosu regarding trusting the name brand.
Coralife's a midrange product at best.
Anyone try their skimmer? i hated mine; gave it away.
Their t5 fixtures are their best offering IMO. $2500 for a 4ft coralife led fixture is nuts.
just my 2 cents

lol good stuff. let me add to this, and say ive just ordered 5 fixtures, 3 to hang in the garage and two in the kitchen. i needed a little more light in those areas.

Wow. That's a lot of money. Id rather go with a few radians than that fixture if I had to. I wonder if anyone has purchased this yet.

You can get 6 AI sol's and a controller for that price. Its nice to know that coralife is pricing themselves out of the market since they make junk anyway.

Yes, not a good track record, but that doesn't man that they feel that way.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Coralife or any other manufacturer, but just because those of us (including myself) that have used their product/s in the past are not satisfied doesn't mean that everyone is not happy with their product/s.

I'm sure Coralife doesn't feel the same way many people feel about their products, and priced themselves where "they" feel they should be.

Would I buy that fixture? No. Would I recommend it knowing that there is better out there? No again.

Will other people buy it? Yes.

On person may not be as informed as the next, and I'm sure that Coralife has a target market in mind. They wouldn't still be in business if they didn't.

The market will tell them what the price will be.

personally I think the build looks cheap, with the optics showing like that. I have seen better looking DIY.

I realize this is a old thread, but while searching for other lights I came across this light and watched their video, and was real excited,.....until I looked up the price, EEK !!!!!! :uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3:
