After reading all these horror stories from AEFW's to killer algae are you guys afraid as I am to adding any new coral to tanks? I started dipping all my hard coral but what if some microscopic piece of algae is attached to a Clam shell and so on. URGH! About takes all the joy of adding anything new. I have a 715 Gal reef tank to fill and I am scared too.

take all the possdible precautions and necessary measures without compromising the health of your inhabitants and through husbandry, practice, and a watchful eye combined with lots of research you may find it very interesting and fun to approach any and all issues with an ethical and caring mindset....and keep us all posted on your results as we all learn everyday too

dip rinse qt.... dip rinse...... dip rinse.... and then dip again.... then after a few weeks and the corals look good, no visable pests coming off in the dips.... add to your display

but to awnser your question... im not afraid to add anything to my tank

When you have large amounts of money into your tank it only makes sense to quarantine everything.

What are you using to dip your new corals?

Sorry it has taken me so long to respond.. it truely depends on what the piece is... I'm just running a softy tank atm... I dip all in iodine... and then in a hydrogen peroxide dip at least once... watch your investment... after time you lean what to look for even if it isn't visible at that exact moment
