Arghh!! Why are my frags brown???

So my tank is approaching 3 years old and everything for the most part is going great. My sps are growing and have great color and I am really happy with them. They are growing to the point that Its almost an issue so I decided to converrt my refugium into a frag tank. Every frag I have pu in this tank is poop brown now. I have no clue why.

The main tank is a 90g with an 8 bulb tek light and an mp40. In the display everything is great. The frag tank is a 25g tank directly next to the display and plumbed into the sup, so it really is just all one big system. That tank has a 24" 4 bulb tek light and an mp10. I really tried to keep everything between the two tanks as similiar as possible. Now the frag tank has a different bulb combo. But the color of th frags looks like it's a high nutrient system issue. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I will think is the lights. try to put a frag back to where it was and see if it goes back to normal.

too much light? The rack in the tank has three levels, and it seems to not make a difference where in the tank they are at.

This sounds like my friends tank in gainesville is this Mike by any chance. If is not ill be very surprise is the same setup same lights same pumps and same problem. I also think is just the lights new bulbs and if it is mike then i don't think is a nutrient issue because he does MB7 + vodka for a while now and the main tank looks very good.

As to your problem, I honestly think its due to lighting as well.

yeah, the lights sound like the prob. move the lights up or the coral down and that should make a diff.

I think it is a combination of lights and stress. Try mounting them on plugs or tiles and put them closer to the light

Clearly you have a lack of Potassium and Strontium. Not really, I would start with the lights.

Mike, did you try placing any of those frags in the DT (if there's room in there!) to see what they'd do? That really is weird.

I have not. When I get home today I am going to raise the lights a bit. We shall see!!
