i have armagedens and they were spreading pretty fas and now they dont even want to open up the only thing that i have notised is that my cleaner shrimp are always touching them and there seems to be alot of bugs by them the bugs are greenish little bodies with big white heads i am thinking about getting a mandrin to help reduce those bugs all the water par. look good the po4 is a little high but everything else is good does anyone have any ideas what else it could be

You can lower the amount of ampipods in your tank with any use of Reef Friendly fairy, flasher, filament wrasses... as long as they grow small and are reefsafe you should be good. Mandarins aren't really recommended if you tank still hasn't matured enough and not has produced enough copepods/other pods to keep a mandarin fed.. Unless your are the few that has a trained mandarin that eats prepared foods/frozen/pellets like my mandarin.

Keep in mind that mandarin's prefer smaller pods, not the larger ones you can easily see. Sure they may eat an amphipod here or there, but a wrasse may be a better option.

I had a leopard and a black leopard wrasse in the past and they are both great candidates for this type of pod control. Plus they will eventually learn from their tank mates and eat prepared foods.

what exactly are the pods good for seems like i have almost a overpopulation and some are pretty big

Pods are scavangers and typically are good for cleaning things up in the nooks and crannies. As has been mentioned, they can be irritants though to some palys and zoos.

They are under your 400whqis right? Otherwise I have some zoas which have long stems no matter where I put them. So I'd say normal sometimes.
