for a 50g i would suggest the g1-x or g2, the baby g is not going to give you the power you need, unless you mod the pump impellar to threadwheel.

I would deffinitely stay away from the mini, the pump is way underpowered, I had to upgrade the pump to get it to skim, you can get a used CS 80 Euro reef or a G1 ASM in the used section of reef central that will work for your budget and be great for a tank that size.

Not very happy with my Mini either.. Its on a 35 Hexagon.. Its loud and doesn't skim well.. Infact its been turned off for the past 2 weeks..

That said I'll sell you mine for half what a new one cost
