ASM G3 vs MSX200

I currently have the G3 and was wondering if the MSX200 would be a noticable improvment. I would like the MSX250 but it won't fit in my sump.

I've read the MSX thread and overall the 200 has gotten good reviews.

Can anyone give me first hand experience with this model?

what makes the difference? pump, design or just as a whole?

sigh, this isn't what I wanted to hear, lol. I guess I'll be ordering a new skimmer....

Skimmer noob here....

Are bubble plate skimmers or RC skimmers better? I have a 75gal but woul like the room to grow into a 180. The msx is in my price range.

Is the G3 stock or recirculating? The biggest issue with the G3 is the Sedra doesn't pump enough air into it. There is an easy fix if it recirculating.

Your tank volume is 120 gallons? If so the G3 is about all the skimmer you need, properly configured, unless your bio-load is high.

I had both and they are not even in the same league (Even with my G3 being meshmodded) Here is a pic where you can see comparing the two.

My curent bioload is pretty heavy and it doesn't seem like the skimmer is pulling out as much gunk compared to how much I'm putting in.

I just measured my sump space and it is 13"x11" and the footprint for the 200 is 13.5"x11.5". Will this skimmer fit? I don't wanna downgrade to the 160.....

My sump is a megaflow 4 for what it's worth.

Well I broke down and ordered the MSX200. From what I've been reading, this will be a huge improvement over the G3.

I wanted the MSX250 but I don't think it would fit in my sump.
