I personally read the whole thread. After reading it I noticed that it would not have been so long if people just read the thread and stopped asking the same questions over and over again.
You would be surprized to know that several hundred people have asked how to mod there asm mini thru asm g-3's.This thread is mostly about the smaller skimmers.There is actually not that much info on the g-4 and up models.
If members even bothered to read just the last 10 pages they would find all if not most of there answers.

The dont carry the repalcement collection cups and what not, but were the only site i found with the outlet oring.

ok I have been going through this monster post for a few hours it seems and cant find the answer to my question (might be the ADD) I did a few mods to my skimmer (asm g-2) recirc and ball valve (waiting for gate valve). I also drilled a 1 3/4 hole in the neck for a uniseal for the return feed line and my question iswhat about mechanical filtration doesnt the skimmer fill with crud? also what is the recommended flow coming into these skimmers I probobly have about 900 gph through my return

You say you drilled into the neck? I hope you didnt as that is not where your suppose to drill it at.As far as flow for the feed.The recommended amount is 1.5-2 times total water volume.Example, a 200 gallon tank would be 200 gph for the feed.Also just tee of your drain with a ball valve so you can adjust the flow to the skimmer.

Is it possible to get to much air from the venturi into the needlewheel? The reason for the question is.........
Sometimes I will wake up to the ASM not skimming like it should. The water on the exhaust of the skimmer is very minimal leading me to believe the pump is beginning to cavitate. If I plug the end of the airline for a brief second, the pump will kick into high gear again. Now, the Venturi has been drilled out slightly & the airline was replaced with a larger ID tubing that does allow air to flow through with less restrictions, this is the only mod that has been done to this skimmer.
Any takers???
