ASM skimmer questions

I'm thinking about getting an asm G4x skimmer. i had a few questions about it for the ASM users.

Is this skimmer a good choice?

Has anyone ever done any of the modifications, such as the re-circ mod or the gate valve mod shown at www.asmskimmer.com?

and finally, what is the actual footprint of this skimmer? at custom aquatic it says it requires a 13"x14" area. could i fit it in a 10 gal tank that is 10" wide?

it wouldnt fit in a 10g. what tank is this going on? a huge skimmer for a tiny sump.

it will be going with a 90 gal system. i was going to plumb a second sump for the skimmer so i can keep my fuge running the way it is in my 40 gal sump, but i'm thinking i mayput the fuge in the 10 gal and the skimmer in the 40 gal. do you think it would fit in a 12" x 15" space (my current fuge)?
