ASM Skimmers

Why do people diss ASM skimmers so much. I find it unlikely that Euro reef or MSX are so much better. I need a skimmer but really dont know what to believe

They're not bad skimmers, but they're also not exactly set it and forget it type skimmers. I think they were a better value before they raised the prices a few years back. I now have an I-Tech 100 and it's night and day. Much quieter with the Tunze and I can just leave it alone. There are probably better options for the money. Dunno why someone would buy an ASM these days over say a Vertex.

I had an ASM G1 modified with a gate valve and I could never get it dialed in right. It didn't really pull much skimmate for me. Then I switched to a DAS EX-1. The DAS has been great.

ASM skimmers work OK, nothing special. They have very poor construction and an Average air draw. All in All an average middle of the road skimmer. They are however expensive when compare to what is available now a days.
