Un (insert your favorite F word here) Believable ! This POS ASM G3 ate a second impeller ! :mad2:

It makes no sense. There is no debris in my tank. There is no air/micro bubbles running near the intake which could potentially cause temporary free spin followed by an immediate load.

Both were stock impellers. There is no debris in the pump. The impeller was seated gingerly. Clearance of impeller head is fine.

No warranty no nothing. I can't even sell this steaming pile of dung to anyone and feel good about it.

For 90.00 in two days, I am SO OVER this pile of junk. THere is no way I'm buying a Sedra just to see if everything is OK

Runs fine for 3 weeks with no problems, then promptly pees the bed twice in 24 hours.

Hooking up to back of truck now. I'm going to drag it around town for a couple of days and teach it a lesson.

SKimmer shopping AGAIN. My wife will be thrilled.

GAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHeeeeeeeiiiooooooooooo !

And I'm spent.

I wouldn't give up on the skimmer - the body hasn't done anything to you! Maybe get an OceanRunner pump instead of the Sedra, many people make that upgrade anyway.

I believe the OR 2700 is the one you need, but I could be wrong.

You could just do the mesh impeller mod with the piece that is left if it's the right shape.

Call ASM and see if they will replace the pump. Mine have 1 year warranty's when I get them. If you got it online who knows...............

Also I have seen 2 sedra pumps go out this year on the same skimmer. ASM could not explain it but those were the first 2 I have seen go out in a few years. Do you have the pump next to another pump like a mag drive? Thats what ASM said knocked out the sedra in the case were 2 have gone out on one skimmer. I personally think it was ozone.

They make a good product, its just they use really crappy pumps.. I am quite happy with my G4X and it's OR3700..

Paul, sorry. I was busy running around to all my "reefing" classes yesterday.

First, I had to attend Rare and Beautiful Macros 101 at Slow Radios place. Then, over to AZTBS' house for Homemade Quality Fish Food or Pate ? You Be the Judge.

As for skimmer, I know that ASM makes excellent skimmers for their respective price break points. I spent tons of hours reading the ASM skimmer club threads, yep, all four of them.

My original ASM skimmer was completely modded i.e. gate valve, recirc, mesh impeller with quickie pad versus enkamat, and direct flow. I swapped a friend that didnt have time to do all of the mods. I then was running this one stock until I got tank settled in.

There are no other pumps in the sump. I am running externals for return and closed loop. In addition, the return pump is drawing from 30 away from where skimmer resides.

After foaming and frothing at the mouth yesterday, which is more than my skimmer was doing, I have calmed myself. Fact is I just got a bad pump with an overwhelming desire to snack on impellers.

We'll see if Sedra concurs that pump shouldn't be doing this at 3 weeks of age and replaces it. If that doesn't work, I'll likely go with the Ocean replacement.

In the mean time, I borrowed a Sedra and it made it through the night.
