Dude forget that guy thats negative about the harlequin method. The CC in the sumps is a great idea I used that method too. Besides the harlequins taking care of the asteras they're an awesome specimen to have. :bounce2:
+ 1 for the harlequin method, + manual removal when you can get to them. I have a problem right now where they are going nuts on my birdsnests. Do not allow these starfish to reproduce in your tank before you do something about them. Better safe than sorry. Good luck..

Either way none of them are truly good, they chow on all sorts of good stuff, coraline, corals, etc, never heard of a benifit to them, and they aren't pretty when they become an infestation.
My harlequin is awsome and is still cleaning up my star infestation when he gets out and about you know he's hungry so buy a star or my local fish store where I bought him said they would buy him back for store credit when he's done doing his job but they also sell the asterna's cheap as a food source. Very cool shrimp you can't go wrong with this method.
I had an asterina infestation in my first reef tank (55 gal). While I never saw conclusive evidence that they harmed any corals, they got so thick (seemed like over 500) in there that it made my tank ugly. I put two Harley's in the tank (I'd read they were 'happier' in pairs) and was surprised when they wiped out the asterina within 2 -3 months. I enjoy having the two Harley's in my tank so much that I've kept them even though I haven't seen any asterina for a couple of years.
I add a whole choc chip star to tank every 2-3 weeks, whenever I see the Harley's out cruising around the tank in the daytime I figure they are getting hungry and on the prowl. My kids and I get a kick out of watching the pair come racing out of the rockwork and team up on the starfish. $8-$10 every 2-3 weeks is worth it in my opinion to keep these shrimp (plus, it gives me an excuse to cruise through my LFS's and do some 'planned impulse' buying).
Harley method all the way I just picked up a micro pair for my new 90 Lps tank they are so cute so small and so precise taking down a cc twice their size :uzi:
