I will add, that I too have seen the majority of the offending asterinas being of a darker variety. But as far as it being a conclusive identifying trait, not so much

Yep, I have the darker ones and they eat my Zoos right down to the frag plug. Every morning and night, it's like picking fleas off a dog!!!!

what till lights out, give the sods time to come out of hiding & then switch lights on & start picking them off. Also during normal lights on, check under rocks, etc and pick them off. The battle can be won, just take persistance.

You can see in the center a star munching on the zoa. Bad pick but you get the point.

Definitely a plus 1 on this statement. Whenever I pluck them off of a rock covered in coraline, there is a star shaped bald spot on the rock ... then for the next few days I keep thinking that I see another one in the same spot lol.
