Astraea Snails grow to what!?!

I don't think any members of the genus get quite that big. A few species of a similar genus, Lithopoma, do but they're coldwater species. The biggest one that might come into the hobby is about 4 inches, but I've never personally seen one nearly that big in the hobby or the wild. I suspect that's a pretty rare specimen.

just cause they could, doesnt mean they would. in all likely hood theyd stop growing from a lack of nutrients available to them. and if they didnt stop growing, they'd die.

I have personally seen a VERY large one. At my old work the owner received a 4-5" Astrea because it outgrew a customers tank. The customer donated it to the stores 1,000 gallon reef aquarium. The snails shell was as tall as it was around...very impressive.

I wonder if it is a grow as big as possible during set lifespan thing

My Astreas live about 2 years. they go from tiny(cause I buy them tiny - seem to do better in the long run) to max maybe inch and a half. but when looking over the dead shell collection, they all pretty much are the same size when they die.

I'm guessing different species
