Astrea Snail rescue

I've had to do it twice this week. Once he ended up overturned, tonight, he cleaned himself between a rock and the glass and got wedged. Is this pretty typical of these snails?

Wow... not too bright and reminiscent of the suicidal jumping gobies. Guess this is the snail version of sleeping with the fishes LOL! Guess I'll just watch them closely cuz they are algae eating machines :)

Yeah, I pretty much avoid them now because they aren't the brightest snails. I've got a mix of cerith, nerite, trochus (best all around IMO) and turbo...oh and of course the zombie nassarius snails too lol

It has nothing to do with their intelligence.. They don't come from the reef, they're from flat sea grass areas closer to shore.

I recently had a snail get caught between a rock and the glass. I bumped him loose with a coat hanger. The snail fell where my pistol shrimp was digging. The shrimp picked him up, carried him to the front of the tank and threw him onto the sand.

Odd thing is, a few days earlier I saw pick up a snail and take it into the burrow and use it as stonework.

+1
Red-banded trochus snails are similar in that they eat algae like crazy, but, they don't fall down like the Astrea snails do.I have a couple that are 7-8 years old.About the size of a fifty-cent coin.
