I have an Apex Jr on order which will arrive next week. I have been reading the manual so I have an understanding of how to program it when it arrives. Electrician coming today so it will be hardwired. The heater I currently use with my system has a temperature setting, if I use the Apex Jr to control my temperature at what setting should I put the actual heater on? For example if I want my tank to stay at 78 should the heater be set on 78 or something different?

Most people set there heater slightly above where they want there temp at. That way if there is a program error or any error for the matter your tank will not be roasted.

I have my Apex set to control the temprature in the tank between 78.4 and 79.0. I have my heater scale set at around 82. Just remember that the scale on most heaters is not accurate. If it is set too low, Apex will not turn the heater on. I mean it will but then the internal heater thermostat will take effect.
