ATB Nano One review

yes, still starting up fine. The soft start is nice but I'm keeping an eye on it the longer it runs. I have ran another DC skimmer in the past with soft start and had to coax the impeller a couple times to get it started. That skimmer had a waveline labeled pump though.

Hope all is great Eric!

update

last night realized i may have to put the silencer back on since the noise from the air draw is more audible than before. I need to get the meter on it since it may be pulling more air now that it has been broken in a while and is getting fed better on the current system. I ran the silencer when i initially broke it in, but removed it since i like feeding hot RO water through the line during WCs and it makes it easier. I'll post a skim shot tomorrow. I'm sure there isn't a lot of interest in this skimmer due to the price tag and the pump, but it is a super performer and if the pump stands the test of time, it will be well worth the money for me.

another note; For those that run a skim locker, this skimmer doesn't have a secondary drain fitting on the cup. I would drill it myself but the skimmer cup sits so low in the sump that unless i raise the skimmer and increase my water level in sump, it is not doable for me. Others may be able to though if they can put it on a stand and get it high enough.

All is well, thank you! I have a 5 month old daughter and I brought her downstairs to see the fish the other day. Her eyes lit up and she pointed at them. Pretty cool!

Regarding the skimmer - that impeller issue reminds me of the old Sicce 2500 pumps- they would not reliably start again if the power went out or if they were turned off for feed mode. The Sicce 1000 pumps had no issues like that. It's honestly disappointing that ATB is using such a low quality pump. Nice that the skimmer is reasonably priced but the pump is making me cautious.

glad to hear the little one is taking a liking to the tank. The pump has not failed me yet but i'll report if it does. the impeller i was referring to was from a different skimmer pump.

this is the best performer i've used yet.

Happy Reefing and happy new year!

always have to clean skimmer cups in the restroom. A mandate from the wife ever since she almost threw up on two separate occasions when I did cleanings in the kitchen.

oh well, happy wife happy life

Thanks for the pic- it's likely down to a decision between this skimmer, the Vertex Omega 150, or possibly a higher end Octo skimmer. Need to research that line more.
