ATB Small - query

Hi

I know a lot of people have ATB skimmers on here, if you do , do you have a needle wheel or a mesh wheel?

I got mine about 4 weeks ago, with a needle wheel and am not convinced it is pulling out as much as I thought it should. Would like to know peoples experiences please

what pump are you running they have been sold with a couple different pumps.

Mine came with an Eheim 1260

I have seen that the Nano came with a different pump

the needlewheel for that is pretty nice i think the reason its not the best pump is with needlewheel it pulls allot of water, there is a mesh wheel available that pulls a ton of air with super fine bubbles.

can you take a picture of the body so i can see what it looks like? did you check the simple stuff like blockage in the silencer, pump, ect.?

the first batch of smalls and the nanos came with eheim 1250s, the 1260 is better.

i would try getting the meshwheel it will pull more air with it, from what i see it looks like its working but could use some more bubbles.

I did enquire about the meshwheel when I got the skimmer, but was told that it would need more maintenance, i.e. a new mesh every 2 months or so

I will enquire about this and see how much it is

i think you will need to tend to the mesh but it should not need new mesh that often, there is a nut that holds the mesh on, sometimes that needs to be tightened but it is easy to do.

mesh makes really tiny bubbles

do you have access to an airflow meter? from your picture the skimmer looks like its working but i cant see inside it too well.

I cleaned the skimmer the other day and have been taking a photo of it every 12 hours so that I can go back to the supplier.

From what I have researched on I thought that it would pull out a lot more than that.

The tank is not dirty, its just that I had a turboflotor 1000 on it before and people said I was under skimming, yet this new skimmer doesnt seem to produce as much gunk

A little dissappointed with it at the moment really
