ATI BM200 and BM250

hahnmeister do you have any links you can provide with more information on the ATB skimmers? A google search provided very very little info. Looks like the big one has two recirced red dragons, what are the dimensions of that thing?

ATB link:

Thanks for the link, looks like the small is for tanks up to 400gal and costs a little over $900. The normal size is for 660gal anf costs $1800. Small comes with a eheim 1260 while the normal comes with a red dragon. That's if my conversions from euro and liters are correct.

I'd sure like to know how they perform if anyone uses one of these. I may have to upgrade my tank just so I can get a BM300.

Those Red Dragons do look cool. too bad they are so expensive. Since that ATB has 2 of them on there those probably cost as much as a BK?

Mavgi, Do you have any idea how I can get more air than 15 lpm from my Sicce pump? Thanks

Jayson i don't know if they exact as the ATI pump , it's look the same but i am not sure..... if you want send me a pump i will check it. i can't touch my skimmer now but i will show you i can pull easy 20lpm when 2 pump connect and this is because of back pressure 1 pump should pull more ....

any update on this Jayson? Michael? I've just ordered 2 of these, hope it wasn't a mistake!!!

I don't have any doubt that the BM300 will be less than the ATB skimmers. I'm hoping that Ed will be one of the Beta testers as well as I sure like to go over there and see if first hand before it is released. He mentioned that he corresponded with Oliver P early this year about being a USA Beta tester, hope so. I know that they have a client with a 900g FOWLR tank that this would go perfectly on.

ostrow, I have changed the mesh out for something alittle different I am now at 17 lpm right after doing it on a SWC/SICCE pump. It is pulling better than my factory ATI/SICCE pump. once the mesh breaks in I hope to have it be over 19 lpm. Thanks

I am using some different types of mesh that I imported, when I imported the pumps. I have a few more types to try to try to get the numbers higher. Thanks

Are those ATB's venturi style or needle wheel style? I thought I saw on another website they are planckton friendly too.?

The ATI bubble master 160, are they using the same pump as the BM200, BM250? Or did the BM160 have a smaller meshwheel diameter to restrict some air so it doesn't turn into a geyser?

I can't remember which thread that I read it on, same pump. The BM150 was using the same pump, only difference was smaller diameter mesh and air restricted. The bigger diameter body should give the pump a little more to work with.

Thanks, I remember Klaus from royal exclusive say that they are a serious competitor in the skimmer market. Looks like an interesting design.

These are not the first cone-shaped skimmers you should have seen though... Korallenzucht has their line as well...

Seems to be a new fad, and Im sure there will be some new-fangled methodology given about 'plankton-friendly-operation' (which it total BS BTW), but my impression of the new 'cone shape' skimmer is that it makes it very hard for people to DIY a skimmer that will be percieved to work better due to its cone shape. Then again, that ATB doesnt seem like more than a garage-shop type of setup.
