ATI 8 bulb with royal blue strips on the side gets my vote.

This is my custom old school powermodule.

That's pretty sick

Each row has 30 LEDs which consist of the following:
20 Luxeon T Royal Blue
5 Rebel ES Cool Blue
5 semiled violet

IMO Royal Blue is the only LED that not even an ATI Blue+ can best. For everything else I prefer T5.

Reef Secrets Aquarium are official dealer for ATI in QLD.
this will be the light I am going for in my new build. :bounce3:
Hopefully there isn't any issues later, surely the ATI would be almost 3rd or 4th generation by now? :uhoh2:

Was aquadepot when I got mine, but I can't buy another ati product since the last debacle.

I know run a geissman matrix 2 dimtec

In Aus 100% of the units failed so ati chose not to honour warranty and stopped supply, these were the first gen of the light but it did leave a sour taste in mouth to have a non functioning light for many ppl

Issues ranged from led flickering, led melting, power box malfunction and t5 banks not working (not ballast issues)

I think there wer controller issues, which were fixed by the time I got mine.
Also, they switched out the LED reflectors for silver lined metal ones like MH use.

Mind have been fine- a year now.

I remember you had one of the first ones. I think the controllers, reflectors and led themselves have been changed several times. I waited to get the violet led, which they didn't have in the first gen.

ATI - HEP Ballasts
Giesemann - Phillips Advance

There is no better ballast than the Phillips Advance ICN series. Highest ballast factor and best power factor in it's class.

Is that for the T5?
Yes, my spectra had Phillips ballasts.

The ATI hybrid has dimmable t5 - very nice. It is a very powerful unit- par monster!
I ran 50% blue and 50% coral+ when I first swapped from 9 400w radium and 12 blue t5 and I bleached my tank. Including a big favia sat 3ft down from the surface.

NIce gus6464!

Those are the type of the combo designs that work very well.

This is an example of what not overdoing with the LEDs can produce. Most of the white should come from the bulbs...........once he did that his tank was TOTM worthy.

I understand that most people aren't DIY types, but the other important thing is when using any type of LED supplement for a Sunpower, ect. is to use strips that are 400-465 and not just a single narrow blue at 450 like the Reefbrites are.

Yeah. All ATI units are HEP. The reason why Phillips are better is because of ballast factor. HEP units have a .95 ballast factor while Advance start at 1.02. The biggest difference in performance is when you use 24W T5 bulbs on the ICN-2S39. The ballast factor goes up to 1.12 with power factor staying at 1.0. This means that a bulb will be 15% brighter than the HEP ballast without overdriving the bulb at all. I swapped all the ballasts in my powermodule T5 for ICN-2S39's. They are direct replacements and the wiring all stays the same.

If anyone who has an ATI T5 unit ever have a ballast go out, I strongly recommend they replace with an ICN Advance ballast.

Good info.................is ICN-2S54 the 54w version?

Yep. You can get them in ICN-2S54 (2-bulb) and ICN-4S54 (4-bulb). Usually ebay is the best place as you can get NOS (new old stock) for very cheap. The best deal on them is to find the ones that are labeled A Advance as they are little older stock but identical.

Also forgot to mention that if you're making your own retrofit always go for non-shunted end caps when using programmed start ballasts.

I am sure they have fixed the issue now, but for me the greater concern was there lack to fix the faulty units and honor warranty.

Ive just switched from a maxspect razor to a ati sunpower and love the ati. A friend has the hybrid and the led units stopped working and in a month he has not noticed any difference in his sps, but no shimmer. T5 all the way!

The tides have turned
