ATI or Giesemann bulbs in Rochester area

I have been looking around to replace my stock bulbs. I have a 4 bulb t5 fixture. I have 2 pure actintic bulbs and 2 12k bulbs. Id like my tank to look a little bluer as right now it a little to whitish yellow for my taste.

I was researching and i think im going to go with the following pattern front to back... blue plus, 12k, blue plus, actinic. I like the blueish look but i dont want a really blue tank. Will this look too blue?

I cant find a local retailer in rochester or even buffalo that sells the 48 inch ati blue plus bulbs. Does anyone know where to get them? Ati has a locator on their website and they say that abc sells them but abc said they dont sell ati bulbs.

The ati blue plus bulbs seem to be similar in spectum to the giesemann actinic plus bulbs. I found a few reviews that say that the ati bulbs are a little brighter and the par was 311 vs 264 in favor of the ati. I saw that giesemann are sold at the reef shoppe so those are local. Anyone have experience with either? Id like my corals to pop a little bit if possible.

I know caribbean normally carry them but they are out of stock right now, and have orders in. Call and see if they can get ur order in.

ooo cool. thanks! I'll stop in on the way home today.

Edit: they said they ordered them but havent recieved them and dont know if they ever will. Maybe i will just get the giesemann actinic plus if theres no place to get the ati bulbs.

Anyone have any comments on the bulbs they use? What do you think looks the nicest?

I've been using GLO T5's from ABC for the past 2 years with great results, will never use giesemann again. I bought a full set of giesemann bulbs and each of them were slightly different lengths. Out of 8 bulbs, 3 burnt out within 5 months. Maybe I got a bad batch, but giesemann made it a real PITA to make contact with customer support.

What specific bulbs are you using?

I picked up two giesemann actinic+ at the reef shoppe today. Im still looking for a 12kish bulb and then another bulb (not sure what yet) to replace my current 460nm crap bulb that came with my fixture. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I haven't stopped by ABC since i started my reef tank. I checked out their facebook page and it seems like they have a lot of cool stuff. Do they have any cheaper (less than $30) corals to check out?

I use all ati have for years blue + for punch and a mix for color. I also over drive my bulbs with two 660's so I only get arond 9-10 months out of them. Look around on line for them

I use 8 of the GLO 48". 6 actinic and 2 10k.

ABC is right down the street from my house so I go there for almost everything unless I make an online order. Yes, usually they have a range of prices for coral.
