I'm another TEK user. I'm more than happy with my light, but would have gone ATI fi I could justify the extra money. I see the ATI really showing its superiority over deeper tanks. I have my TEK 6 bulb mounted 16" above my 40br and it's still plenty for my SPS and clam. I think I'd have to mount the ATI directly to the ceiling from everything I've read, haha! I don't think you could lose either way.

whats up with their fans?

The original fans were way loud I guess. I don't know the exact issues but when I was deciding what fixture to upgrade to from my 4x24w ATI Sunpower, I called George at Reefgeek and he told me they would not sell any Elites until the fan issue was fixed.

I don't think the issues have been fixed yet but they might have.

It has been 9 months since the fans started going out on the Tek Elite and still they have not resolved the problem they just keep sending the same crappy fans. How hard can it be to resolve.

awesome information!!, yeah on my 55 tank i only need the 4 bulb fixture. my bad .
