ATI Powermodule with dimmable ballasts

I am currently planning my next upgrade and would like to change the ATI Powermodule ballasts with the GHL dimmable ballasts.

What exactly is involved? Would the ballasts be internal or external?

I will be ordering the 48" 10x54w version.

Ati will build them with euro ballasts. I almost went that route.
All you'll need is a step up transformer.
I was told there are lots of euro profilux users that use ATI.

Drop me a mail before you do this I am working with Fauna on bringing over completely compatible plug and play to profiLux 110V 48" T5 dimmable units with built in cooling.

I will have more info next week, i really do suggest holding fire if you can.

I am having two built for my own 4x4x2.5 system 2 x 8 tubes,, as you are in ottawa you can come over and play with them

That sounds fantastic!

I could probably get away with a 8x54w fixture since the tank will be 48L x 24W x 20H.

You can have it in 8, 12, 16 and 24, but you are governed by the width of your tank, mine is 48" wide x 48" long and 30" deep or will be anyway.

I am getting them to review them and then see what price we can bring them in at. They are not general release at present thats why i am getting two units to see. I should have them in 4-6 weeks.

Dont expect them to be bargain prices though as they are fully loaded units

full variable speed cooling built in (not profiLux controlable, no need)
54W only at present for dimmable
Full GHL interface with prospective built in 0V switching.

This is all presumed right now but I will keep everyone clued in once i get them.

I have also found a supplier for other wattage dimmable ballasts but they could be dali, I need to make contact to confirm.

That is a dream my T5 fixture come true!

Maybe I can buy one of the demo light fixtures when you are done testing. :)

I am excited!

then my tank will be short of one set :(

You may cough at the price thats all I am saying as these are German built.

As i said these will be full GHL dimmable with GHL interfaces and plug and play just like the excellent GHL I bars.

If it works out i will see what i can do for you as beta testing. I think these potentially have marketing legs for both GHL and fauna but on special order only.

But nothing is set in stone yet and its not my decision if these are brought to market, thats for Matthias and Claude to decide. And I probably will get into trouble for even mentioning it :( But these are just too cool to keep quiet about ;)

Michael,
those looks pretty slick...i was thinking other day to order ATI and change ballasts .the same way i have then in my Sfiligoi .
I hope we can see those pretty soon...I might get 16 bulbs unit for my tank when become available.

mike

Let me get mine first and make sure we can get this all hooked up. Everything is available i just dont know who is doing what yet.

I was told by Claude mine should be ready in two weeks :)

Just spoke with Claude, he will iron out some technical details next week . If and only if I get agreement from both parties on this, I will then release two units as beta units before launching, if at all any launch is permitted.

You see this came about when i asked for some custom lights to be made for my GHL/Fauna show case tank, it seems in doing so i have stumbled upon a demand. :)

Watch this space :)

I was also planning on getting a powermodule for my 36x36x24 cube tank which i am just about done setting up.

i'd be interested in testing out this unit if that's possible

Ok update

lamps definately coming to the market, possibly also with other wattages as well.

Still in negotiations.

More info to follow ;)

Michael,

OK, I'm very interested!

I've been looking into T5s for my new 48"L x 36"W x 24"H, and was thinking of making a DIY fixture with Dimmable ballasts (possibly I-bars) along with mounting a Simu-Stick in the housing... these intrigue me though because I stink at DIY, and you know these fixtures will look sweet!

Do you mean they'll be avaible with 8, 12, 16 or 24 bulbs front to back in one fixture?!?

If so, that'd be fantastic! Since my tank is 36" front to back, I dont think an 8 bulb, even 10, would cut it, and I would much rather not have to hang two fixtures with 8 bulbs each...

Hi

One of the units we will be doing can be pretty much any size im told up to 24 tubes, so yes this is all possible including dimmable.

There is still much behind the scenes activity so to speak but i am told the demo units from one supplier will be with me before Christmas and this is the one that can im told cater for your needs.

I will be releasing more info later this week. At the moment its just a case of working out what dimmable options we are going for as there are now 3!!

Cool, thanks for the reply Michael! I'll imaptiently await the upcoming news!

One thing I was discussing with a friend was the ability to use an ATI Powermodule (or other T5 fixture) with say 10 bulbs, and removing one of the bulbs and replacing it with a Simu-Stick (or 2). This would allow to still have the 'sleek" look of a nice T5 fxture, and be able to use the Simu-Sticks for lightning, etc. We were unaware however if this is possible, in thinking maybe removing one of the T5 bulbs would disrupt the "circuit" somehow.

Ayways, perhaps implementing multiple (or one) Simu-Stick is something they're looking into as well... that would be the mothership!

Hi

Not something that had been talked about and this light fixture is not GHL, however one is also coming from GHL but this will not have any LED built in.

Something for the future maybe

Very interested in this as well Michael. I'd love to continue using T5s on my next tank and dimmable would be sweet.

Please visit the Fauna Marin forum and look for Star fire, the lamp has been developed by them and incorporates GHL dimming plug and play equipment ;)
