ATI sunpower 6 or 8 bulb?

Should I go for a 6 bulb 24w 24" ATI sunpower unit over my 24"x24"x12 tank or an 8 bulb fixture? The tank will be mainly SPS and a minimalistic aquascape. Thanks.

I have a 8x24W Sunpower over a 30"x30"x18 and it is more than enough light. I say definitely a 6x24w for your tank. Might want to start the fixture up high over that shallow a tank.

Is the height of your tank 12" ? If so, you might want to get a dimmable fixture. The Sunpower puts out alot of PAR and that is a shallow tank.

I you'd rather not spend the extra money you could always raise or lower the fixture above the tank as needed. HTH

I would go with the 4 bulb and add a couple reefbrite LEDs strips, best of both worlds and one hell of a light. I have an 8 bulb with 2 strips and love it

would that combo be able to sustain sps on the bottom to mid level of the tank? it sounds kinda weak imo.

I have a 6 Bulb with 2 Reef Brites. It's way too much for my low light corals.
The reef Brights are amazing with T5's. They add more Par then a single Blue+ ATI T5. So It would be like having a 6 bulb and then some.

No I have the standard. I'm not sure on the XHO models. Maybe Rehype will stop by this thread or IM him. He has the XHO mounted on the Sun Power.

Your tank is super shallow. I have My light 10" above the water and have 250 Par on the sand and its a 18" deep tank.

I think it would be more than enough light...I have an 8 bulb but dont use number 3 and 6 because its just too much light for my sps...The reefbrites are nice pieces, mine are the normal led strips as well
