ATI Sunpower Dimmable

Guys,

I may be going overboard but I'm thinking of using the 4x24 or 6x24 on my IM Fusion 20. Only limitation I have is the bottom of the fixture can only be about 3" from waterline. I'm using a Radion Pro now but I'm not happy with the light spread due to the proximity to the waterline.

Am I out of my mind using the ATI so close to the waterline or does this seem reasonable if I keep the intensity under control?

One note - my ultimate objective is to move the ATI over a custom 100 and adding a second 24" or just buying a 48" at the time.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Bary

Hi Bary,

Thanks for your inquiry. The Radion does work better being 6-10 inches from the tank.

The ATI fixture will work fine being 3" from the water. Being a linear-source light versus a point-source light, the ATI will provide better coverage being at this height. However, definitely start the intensity low to slowly acclimate the corals.

When you upgrade to the 100, we would recommend going with a single 48" fixture. It is a lot cheaper to replace 4 or 6 48" bulbs every 8-12 months versus double the number of 24" bulbs. Plus, you get a few extra watts with the 48" bulbs (54W versus 2 x 24W).

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Fantastic suggestion! I will use my Radion for a different installation and get the ATI for my fusion. And great suggestion on going to the 48" on the next build.

You guys rock!
