Anyone have any experience with them? From what I understand, they are fantastic algae eaters, however, I also hear that they can ink the tank. Any experience or input?
Tank is 280g

I have had them many times, and in fact just got one for a GHA problem in my frag tank. I've never had one 'ink' but they do produce a prodigious amount of hare dookie. So much, in fact, that it almost looks like all of the algae just got pelletized. You just need to be able to easily siphon it out.

Very similar to Nudibranch as far as excellent water quality to thrive. Unless they feel threatened or stressed they should never ink. They do consume some algae, they just aren't the most colorful addition to a reef tank

Mine was amazing, he ate such a large amount of GHA in such a small period of time. At first I thought he was really ugly but than it grew on me and became my favorite inhabitant. Had to return him after he ate all the algae but I sure do miss it. I have a cleaner shrimp who would occasionally pick at him and an urchin that would poke it from time to time and he never inked. Pretty rare for it to occur from what I have read.
