ATO in tank with wavemaker

I have a 40g breeder set up that does not have a sump. I would like to use an auto top off to prevent salinity swings throughout the day while I'm at work. Problem is I have a vortech making waves and it seems like the waves would constantly be turning on/off the top off. Does any one else have a similar set up that they have found a solution for? Or maybe someone has some ideas?

I haven't done this myself but I have herd of people using a gravity fed ATO. They just set a container above the water with some airline tubing and a valve. Then adjust the valve to a really slow drip to match the evaporation.

I definitely have the tank in an area I could pull this off, may give it a shot. Would prefer a pump fed system if I can find one that works.

What about setting the Vortech and ATO on opposing timers? Run the Vortech for a few hours, turn off and run ATO for an hour, etc...

Just my 0.02
