ATO Scare

So in the middle of the night i just so happen to hear my ato turn on and top off my system. But it didnt stop!!! I quickly got up to check it and just before my tank started spilling water it stopped. Now i can hear the pump inside the top off reservoir making some kind of noise. It makes a jolt noise every 20seconds or so. Not sure what happened or what the problem is. This is the nano osmolator. It has worked fine for the lastweek no problems. Any thoughts to what this maybe id appreciate it, thanks

The jolt is the time out, after the pump runs for its alotted time (1.8 minutes out of the box, extendable to 3 minutes) it will pulse every 20 seconds and that is essentially an alarm that it has timed out and needs to be reset.

The reason it overfilled is more tricky, when this happens at night at can easily be due to a snail, crab, cucumber, starfish or urchin grabbing the float. If it worked normally up to that point, this or something switching on near the controller or float and creating a magentic field are the most likely culprits.

Oh i see. I reset it and everything seems to be working properly again. This is on a new tank thats only been running for 1 week. So i think i can rule out any life forms that could have interrupted the float. What i did was place a piece of cardboard between the magnet and glass. I think that the magnets may have needed separated even further apart in order to avoid interference with the float. We will see
