ATO Tunze Osmolator Reviews and thoughts

I'm thinking about purchasing the Tunze Osmolator, although I'm somewhat cringing on the price. But then again, what isn't expensive in our hobby. :crazy1:

$200.00 for this ATO unit, can anybody chime in on the value and if it's worth spending this money on this ATO?

Any other recommendations welcomed.

Thank you and happy reefing!

I havent had a single problem with it...keeps my sump level extremely constant...my skimmer production has never been better. Very easy to set up and with tunze..its reliable. one of the best investments I've made

i looked at the tunze for a LONGGGG time, but at the end i couldn't justify spending that much for the ato so i went with the 2 float valves from autotopoff . bought a digital timer from walmart to turn it on 6 times a day 5 mins each time just in case. used a aqualifter pump to pump the water in. nothing lasts forever, all parts will eventually fail so it's good to put it on a timer even if you decide to go with the tunze

Have mine since 2004. One of the best money spent in this hobby. Accurate and reliable! My Elos set up that I bought two years ago came with an ATO. Since the Tunze is so reliable, I didn't even bother open up the Elos ATO.

I've always heard great things about them. I will say I just recently got the new Elos ATO that uses a temperature sensitive sensor to keep up with the ATO. It is awesome. It keeps it very constant and even the slightest adjustments it recognizes. I've been very pleased. It's about the same price point as the Tunze. I do like that the Elos ATO has no moving parts, so it seems to me that it would be less likely to fail. But, as stated above, seems as though the Tunze is reliable.

I have even run mine out of water a couple times, yea I know. It fired right up, it has a shutdown if it runs too long. Money well spent.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, sounds like Tunze is doing more than one thing right. I'll also add that part of my decision has been motivated by their great costumer service. I've experienced it twice and they have always been quick and friendly with their services.

Thanks again every for chiming in. Always appreciated.

it's great once the bubbles stop sticking to the "eye". i rest much easier knowing my top off is so dialed in. 100% recommended!!!

Tunzee Osmolator is the best ATO out. Laser level for main water level. Back up float switch for redundancy. Everything you need included in the box. First page of instructions say it is fit for use by children or people with limited mental capacity. Had mine for a few years. Works flawlessly. Money well spent.

I appreciate all the feedback too! been looking for an ATO for some time, just scared to death about over flow issues... tank is on a wood floor! already been there done that!

108reefer,

That's what it's all about, sharing information to better the community. Glad someone else can appreciate it as well. :)

Cheers!

Have had one for over 2 years and love it. It has three different failsafes: the optic, the float sensor, and a timer. The only problem I have run into is the optical sensor getting a little bit of calcification on it but it cleans right up with some vinegar. The set-up is easy and it just works.

Never had a problem with mine. I've also got the kalk chamber and I simply put fresh kalk powder in there every few weeks. I'm going to get one of their magnets for mounting the sensors and then I'll be done. Expensive, yes. Good, definitely.

Mike
