Ato ???

I am using the tunze 3155 on my 120.

My question is if the pump has a sensor for low water level or if i should take the emergency float and invert it in the ATO bucket to stop when water gets low, my only concern is no safety float on my sump?

Otherwise what can i do to keep the overflow float in my sump and also keep the pump from running dry?

Thanks

The controller will shut off the pump and sound an alarm if it ever runs for more than 10 minutes without registering a top off. The pump is not lubricated by the water and is marginally cooled by the water, it has no sensor to shut it off, but a 10 minute dry run will not damage it unless this is done repetitively for a long time. It is a simple DC motor sealed in a housing with a direct shaft drive to an impeller. I would not modify the use of the float.

If your referring to using the safety float inverted as modifying then I won't do that. It was just an idea to keep the pump from running dry to many times or at all. I do my best but can't always keep an eye on my ATO reservoir.

Would another option be have the controller run on an outlet controlled by a separate low water cut off float ? That way then water hits say 1" depth the float kills power the the ATO until I can re fill it..

It is not an issue worth worrying about, I would consider the risk of the pump failing from running dry to be virtually nil and the cost of a spare pump is far cheaper than any workaround.
